The purpose of the Reflections Fine Arts competition is to showcase student use of six different artistic media. The Reflections theme is Within Reach which is a broad topic! What do you think of when someone says something is Within Reach? Reach for the stars!? Keep Reaching?! What are you Reaching for?
When you think of those statements, what comes to mind? That’s your inspiration!
It could be something physical. Reaching for an object. It could be success. It could be knowledge. There are millions of things you could be reaching for, and THAT’S what you create a project around!
Draw what you could be reaching for. Write a story about attaining a goal. Take a picture of something that reminds you challenge you once faced. There are so many possibilities!
Your submissions are due Oct 27th in the pink bin outside Mr. Leavitt’s room. Remember all submissions must follow the guidelines for the specific category. Find the rule sheets on our Facebook group page.
Students may enter multiple times! Submissions can be in the same artistic category of different categories! It’s totally up to you! Each time you enter you MUST have an entry form so stop by the cafeteria if you need extras or print them thru our Facebook Group page. Make sure you complete an Artist statement explaining your piece!
One More Time
- This is an optional art fair. You don’t have to compete, but it sure is FUN!
- Project(s) are to be completed at home. You may have help from a parent. Dance choreography and music composition can have other participants, but only one Artist can enter the project.
- Submissions MUST have an entry form attached to the project.
- Submissions MUST follow size guidelines for each category. Again, check those rule sheets!
- Each entry form has an artistic statement. Make sure you fill this out (you can use additional paper) and explain the motivation behind your project. Why did you choose whatever media you used? How does this reflect Within Reach? These statements can be the difference between 1st place and Honorable mention.
Projects will be judged in early November and Ribbons will be awarded. Your project may even be chosen to compete at the next level!
Get your creative juices flowing and if you have any questions please email Angie Hawkins (hit the contact button on this page) or ask Mr. Leavitt during art class. We are more than happy to help!
